Museum Maluku is run by Stichting Moluks Historisch Museum. This page sets out how the organisation is put together, who sits on the board, and the registration details of the foundation.

Structure

How Museum Maluku is organised

Museum Maluku is the name the museum works under in public. The organisation behind it is a foundation, and that foundation carries the legal and financial responsibility. They are one organisation, not two.

  1. Stichting Moluks Historisch Museum

    The foundation. It holds the collection, employs the staff and answers for the finances.

  2. Board

    Governs the foundation, appoints the director and approves policy, the budget and the annual accounts.

  3. Director and executive office

    Runs the museum day to day: the collection, the programme, the research and the organisation.

The board of Stichting Moluks Historisch Museum governs the foundation. Its members are unpaid.

Organisation

Executive office

The daily work of Museum Maluku is done by a small professional team, led by director Henry Timisela. The work is grouped in these areas:

  • Collection and heritage
  • Digitisation
  • Programme and projects
  • Marketing and communication
  • Operations and office

Questions are handled by role rather than by person, so that they reach whoever is actually working on them. General questions go to the museum; questions about the collection have their own route.

Purpose

Objective

Stichting Moluks Historisch Museum makes knowledge about the history, art, culture and development of Moluccans - the Moluccan Story - accessible to the widest possible public inside and outside the Netherlands.

In practice that means the foundation keeps and documents Moluccan heritage, makes it accessible for research and for the public, and develops exhibitions, activities and publications around it, working from Moluccan perspectives and together with the communities this heritage belongs to.
