Working at Museum Maluku

Work on the future of Museum Maluku

Museum Maluku keeps Moluccan heritage together: the collection, the research, the stories people entrust to us and the programmes that bring them to an audience. Whatever you make, research or organise here comes back in how visitors get to discover that history.

Why Museum Maluku?

Meaning
What you do here contributes to keeping Moluccan heritage preserved, understood and reachable.
A small team, real responsibility
Museum Maluku works with a compact team. That means a role is rarely one narrow task, and what you do is visible.
Knowledge and culture
The work runs across collection, research, programming, community, digital development and running the place.
Collaboration
Those disciplines sit close to each other here. A collection question becomes a programme question sooner than it would elsewhere.

Different ways to contribute

Every position, paid or voluntary, is published on this page and applied for the same way. What differs is the relationship.

Paid positions
Employment with the museum, with the terms stated in the vacancy.
Volunteer roles
Defined roles with real responsibility, published here like any other vacancy.More about volunteering at Museum Maluku.
Internships
When there is an internship, it appears on this page as well.

Working in a small museum team

Collection, research, programming, communication, education, digital and operations are separate disciplines here, but they are not separate worlds. A role sits in one of them and touches the others.

That is not the same as everyone doing everything. What a position asks for is in the vacancy; what it connects to is the rest of the museum.

Working with care

Not every position asks for specialist knowledge of Moluccan history. Care, respect and a willingness to learn do matter — the collection holds personal stories and contested histories, and they are handled accordingly.
