About Museum Maluku
This is the museum's own description. You are welcome to use it as it stands.
Museum Maluku is a living archive, a knowledge institution and a community museum. The museum keeps, researches and shares Moluccan history, culture and heritage, from Moluccan perspectives and in connection with the communities for whom that heritage carries meaning.
The collection holds objects, archives, photography and audiovisual material, much of it entrusted to the museum by Moluccan families. Museum Maluku documents and researches it, makes it accessible online and on request, and develops exhibitions, publications, education and public programmes around it. The museum works in relation with Moluccan communities rather than on their behalf: there is no single Moluccan story, and the museum makes room for that difference.
Museum Maluku is run by Stichting Moluks Historisch Museum and is based in Museum Sophiahof in The Hague.

Image material
Museum Maluku does not publish a general press image bank. Much of the collection carries the rights of photographers, families and other institutions, so what may be used and how differs per image.
Tell us which image you mean and what you want to use it for, and we will tell you whether it can be released and on what terms, including the credit line you must use.
A book, film or documentary
For larger productions, and for research in the collection or the archive, there is a route that asks the right questions up front.
Filming or photographing in the museum
Museum Maluku is housed in Museum Sophiahof, which it shares with others, so professional recording is arranged in advance. Get in touch before you plan a shoot and we will tell you what is possible.
