Help build our new archive space
Yes, Museum Maluku has another location! Since Friday 26 August 2022 the museum has held the keys to an extra space in Rotterdam-Zuid. This will become our archive space: a room that will serve as an extra workspace for preparing the archive collection so that it can be digitised. But before we can actually start on this, we need your help. Help build the museum and read below how you can support us: with time, money and goods.
A new but empty archive space
For more than a year Museum Maluku has been looking for a new location for its collection. After viewing several locations and visiting the depots, and after various conversations with their ups and downs, we have now finally found a fine spot in Rotterdam-Zuid. The plans to reassess and digitise the archive collection can begin. Almost, at least… The new archive space is still empty. At the moment it is a dusty 100 m2 room with no fittings or furniture. As you can see in the photographs, a great deal still needs to happen. The place needs some love and care, and that is why we are asking for your help.

Donate money, time or goods
Our organisation currently depends largely on project and programme subsidies. That is why we have only limited means for fitting out the archive space. Pass on the love for our beautiful Moluccan heritage to the next generations and help build the museum with us (literally). What will Museum Maluku do in the archive space?**
Museum Maluku's focus in the final months of 2022 is preparing the archive collection for digitisation. That means: getting this part of the collection ready for scanning before January 2023. The work consists of assessing and conserving, unfolding and removing paper clips and repairing tears. That way the digitisation can actually begin in January 2023. We want to start conserving this part of the collection on 1 October.
