We are proud to present the sixth part of the IKAT exhibition. The work of Jaya Pelupessy and Nazif Lopulissa can be seen in the museum until Sunday 26 September.
Jaya Pelupessy studied photography at the Utrecht University of the Arts. He uses photography to examine the status of the image. At the heart of his work are the processes that lead to autonomous images; an investigation into the extent to which the process itself, and the visibility of that process, strengthens, undermines or produces new autonomous images. "Especially for this IKAT exhibition I made Oya Pottery #1 and Oya Pottery #2. The starting point for these two works is the traditional pottery of the village of Ouw on the island of Saparua in the Moluccas. It is the only tangible product from the island that I own."**
Born in Tiel, Nazif Lopulissa is a visual artist. He lives and works in Rotterdam, the city where he graduated from the Willem de Kooning Academy in 2016. Nazif Lopulissa brings a great deal of new work to the IKAT exhibition. "My work goes back to the carefree feeling of being young. To a time when the playing field is still empty and all possibilities are open. That applies both to the work itself and to the way it comes about. Playfully, I try to define my practice anew again and again in form and materiality. I explore connections between form, design, application and intention. And how these lead to meaning."

THE MHM COLLECTION IN THE DEPOT
The MHM collection previously exhibited in Utrecht is currently stored in the depot and cannot be seen in The Hague. Our team is working hard on re-inventorying the entire MHM collection and aims to inspire everyone as soon as possible with a surprising and innovative programme.
