Afgestoft: live performance by Sebastiaan Boot
Museum Maluku closes the first part of the exhibition Afgestoft: Membuka Tambo Lama with a special live performance by multidisciplinary artist Sebastiaan Boot on Sunday 19 February 2023. Expect profound wordplay in a powerful recital. Will you be there?
Who is Sebastiaan Boot?
Multidisciplinary artist Sebastiaan Boot is 25 years old and of Moluccan, Javanese and Dutch descent. His work is a product of his biculturality, a necessary theme within which he is constantly moving. From this starting point he creates a new narrative out of a rich but often forgotten or silenced history. He does so by combining different disciplines (dance, photography, film, spoken word, theatre, artefacts and audio) in his practice, in order to explore and tell a story in its entirety.
Zwaar Vaarwater live performance
With 'Zwaar Vaarwater' (Rough Waters), Sebastiaan Boot sets out to convey a narrative of the Moluccan community in the Netherlands in a spatial setting. Zwaar Vaarwater is a dance of video art, spoken word, performance, soundscape and objects (artefacts). During the exhibition, Sebastiaan's spoken word and performance are shown continuously on a screen. Specially for the closing of the first part of Afgestoft: Membuka Tambo Lama, Sebastiaan will perform his spoken word and performance live in the exhibition space. The act lasts about 20 minutes. Afterwards there is the opportunity to visit the exhibitions Afgestoft: Membuka Tambo Lama and ONS LAND.

Zwaar Vaarwater can be seen until Sunday 19 February 2023. After that, documentary portrait photographer Yara Jimmink takes over and exhibits from 26 February.
