Museum Maluku is soon launching the new vodcast series Unboxing – Uitgepakte verhalen! In this series, generations from Moluccan communities come together to bring the boxes down from the attic and open them, sharing their stories, rituals and traditions. In the run-up to the launch we warmly invite you to two public events that bring the stories behind this heritage to life.
On Friday 1 November you can be there live in Utrecht for the recording of an episode about the suling, a traditional Moluccan wind instrument. Then, on Sunday 10 November, we are holding the official launch party in Rotterdam with an exclusive screening of the very first episode of the vodcast, which highlights the meaning of the piring natzar. Both events offer a unique view of Moluccan heritage, with music, stories and depth.

Friday 1 November 2024 | Live recording of the suling episode
On Friday 1 November we take you into the world of the suling, a traditional Moluccan wind instrument. The high point of the evening is the live recording of a vodcast episode in which Isaac Latupeirissa presents his impressive suling collection, together with his sister Dora Luhulima and his niece Deborah Lewerissa. Guided by hosts Reïnda Hully and Gerlov van Engelenhoven, they go deeper into the questions of what makes the suling so unique and so important within the Moluccan communities. The evening is framed musically by performances from Deborah Lewerissa and artist Yopi Abraham.

On Sunday 10 November we warmly invite you to our Unboxing Launch Party! Come and watch the very first episode of Unboxing – Uitgepakte verhalen with us, one day before it is officially released. This first episode centres on the piring natzar, a traditional Moluccan offering dish with profound symbolism. Host Zoë Nunumete will take you into the stories this afternoon. Singer Patricia Pattinama, who also appears in the vodcast, gives an intimate acoustic performance.
