Tjendol afternoon: ‘Wortels in de Molukken’ is sold out

On the afternoon of Friday 29 April the new comic book ‘Wortels in de Molukken’ (Roots in the Moluccas) will be presented, an initiative by Stijn Schenk. Together with a number of Moluccan women and illustrators he hosts Museum Sophiahof’s monthly Tjendol afternoon.

Programme

The new comic book ‘Wortels in de Molukken’ tells the stories of a number of remarkable women from the Moluccan community. These are complemented by drawings and stories from illustrators Els Deckers and Dido Drachman.

The Tjendol afternoon starts at 14.30 with coffee, tea and spekkoek on arrival. At 15.00 Stijn Schenk, together with a number of illustrators and the Moluccan women portrayed, will present the comic book. Then listen to stories and poems by, among others, Nel Lekatompessy, Mellie Lumalessil-Metiarij, Quiana Lumalessil and Aca Siwabessy Stoffels. Afterwards, at 16.00, a glass of Tjendol awaits you and you can buy the comic book and have it signed.

The earlier picture story about Lady Soul (vocalist Francis Parinussa – who died on 9 January 2021) from ‘Wortels in Nederlands-Indië’ is also included in the book. Read the story about Lady Soul here already.
