The Moluccan Historical Museum could not exist without the extraordinary commitment of its volunteers. We already have volunteers, from a few hours a year to fixed days every week. Even so, there turns out to be more work than there are volunteers. We have drawn up two specific vacancies and hope one of them suits you. In addition, we are always looking for volunteers in various disciplines.
Library assistant
Museum Sophiahof is the meeting place of Collective Recognition for the Indisch and Moluccan communities. The museum offers space for the culture and well-being of, and knowledge about, these communities. The Moluccan Historical Museum manages the library of Museum Sophiahof in collaboration with the Indisch Herinneringscentrum. There are vacancies for library assistants in this library.
The tasks of the library assistants are:
Receiving and showing round visitors;
Registering newly received books;
Creating digital dossiers on thematic subjects.
The library assistant has:
Experience with information services;
Good interpersonal skills;
Good oral and written communication skills;
Affinity with the Indisch and Moluccan communities;
Affinity with literature and documentation;
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word and Excel in particular);
Willingness to learn a new application (Adlib);
Knowledge of Indonesian is an advantage.
Museum Sophiahof library offers:

Adlib application manager
The Moluccan Historical Museum Foundation in The Hague manages a database in which the collections of the museum, the archive and the library are stored. For this the museum uses Adlib. For the maintenance of this application, MHM is looking for a volunteer willing to take charge of application management.
Tasks of the application manager:
Functional and technical management of Adlib;
Instructing and guiding (new) users of Adlib
Serving as first point of contact for users;
Producing data export files for collection management purposes;
Ensuring that data is uploaded to the applications of partner organisations and maintaining contacts with those organisations;
Carrying out conversions to convert collection files to and from Adlib;
The candidate has:
Experience with or affinity for functional application management;
Good interpersonal and teaching skills;
An independent working attitude;
Affinity with museum collection management.

Volunteers, something for everyone
Being a volunteer at the Moluccan Historical Museum is instructive. It does not matter whether you have a lot or a little experience, or whether you can spend a lot or a little time; we have something for everyone. If you already have plenty of experience, we would like you to use your knowledge to train people with less experience, and if you have no experience, this is an ideal place to gain (work) experience.
