Greetings from Studio 1: Moluccan Nala and Quinn shine on Holland's Got Talent
Nala Limaheluw (14) from Utrecht and her cousin Quinn Lekatompessy (16) from Leerdam have more in common than family ties alone: they share an enormous passion for dance. They dance together at World of Afro, and this season they and their whole crew are shining on the nail-biting TV talent show Holland's Got Talent. Their audition made such an impression that the Golden Buzzer was pressed, sending World of Afro straight through to the semi-final on Friday 1 November. Nala and Quinn tell us more about their adventure on Holland's Got Talent and their big dreams for the future.
A golden ticket to the semi-final
It was their dance teacher, Precious Alvares, who came up with the idea of entering Holland's Got Talent with World of Afro. For Nala and Quinn it was a dream come true. "I was so excited when she told us we were going to take part," Nala says. Quinn nods in agreement: "Everyone in the group immediately thought: 'Yes, let's do it!' It is a wonderful experience, especially because we are still so young." That their audition would result in a Golden Buzzer, however, was something they never expected. Quinn: "We really did not see a Golden Buzzer coming." "We were very surprised but above all super happy and grateful, and you can see that too," Nala adds, laughing.
Blowing the audience away again
After the Golden Buzzer, preparations for the semi-final began. With the jury's feedback in mind, Nala, Quinn and their dance group are working hard to put on another spectacular show. "We always focus on having fun, but this time we are really going all out to blow the jury and the audience away again," Nala says enthusiastically. Quinn adds: "In the semi-final people can expect another very energetic show from us." "With very fast footwork," Nala says. "Fast, tight and energetic." Nala and Quinn are convinced that, with their dedication and teamwork, World of Afro will make the difference again in the semi-final.
A future full of dance
Nala and Quinn dream big, and their appearance on Holland's Got Talent is only one of the steps in their dance adventure. Alongside their performances with World of Afro they take part together in the International Dance League, a major international dance competition in which they battle other dancers. They also compete a great deal with WOA Championship, a competition group within World of Afro. High on the wish list is performing with a big artist one day. "If I may dream really big, I would love to dance for someone like Burna Boy," Quinn says, to which Nala responds enthusiastically: "Yes, that would be truly wonderful."
