Unboxing | Uitgepakte Verhalen | Aflevering 2 - Bomberjacks
Aflevering 2 van onze vodcast over immaterieel Moluks erfgoed.
Episode 2 of our vodcast about intangible Moluccan heritage.
In the ’90s the bomber jacket became an iconic garment and a powerful identity symbol for Moluccan youth. Combined with brands like Alpha Industries, All-Stars and Ray-Ban glasses, they created a recognisable and proud style. But what made the bomber jacket so important? What stories of pride, struggle and connection lie behind this symbol? And how do the generations after this 'bomber jacket period' view their Moluccan identity? Is there now more room for healing and a shared awareness of colonial history? Henry Timisela and Franky Wenno, contemporaries of the bomber jacket era, talk with Lukas Eleuwarin and Nathalie Tamaëla about the legacy of this culture and the search for identity.
