Installing Uitgepakt: Van kist naar kast

From Saturday 28 October 2023 we bring part of the treasures of the museum collection to life again in the two temporary exhibition spaces of Museum Sophiahof. Curator Huib Akihary and volunteers are busy installing the new exhibition Uitgepakt: Van kist naar kast.

Uitgepakt: Van kist naar kast

At the beginning of this year we were already proud to present a number of museum highlights in the exhibition 'Afgestoft, membuka tambo lama'. Now it is time for 'Afgestoft 2.0', in which we go a step further. This new exhibition is presented partly as an installation and puts the crossing of Moluccans to the Netherlands and their life in the camps in the years after the arrival in 1951 at its centre. A special addition to this exhibition comes from the talented Moluccan artist and researcher Finn Maätita.

Building the installation and fitting out the spaces are in full swing. From Saturday 28 October 2023 the new temporary exhibition can be visited. Will you come by?
