Ons Land – The Talkshow

On Wednesday 7 September the Indisch Herinneringscentrum and Museum Maluku present the programme Ons Land – The Talkshow at the Tong Tong Fair. A panel discussion with host Feba Sukmana and enthusiastic guests who are engaged with their own family history and with the afterlife of the colonial past.

Searching for (family) history

Since the beginning of February the semi-permanent exhibition ONS LAND – Decolonisation, generations, stories has been on view at Museum Sophiahof in The Hague. In the exhibition the complex and often painful sides of Dutch colonial history are told through eight family stories.

During the talk show we talk about the search for one's own family history from the perspective of the younger generation. Questions about your history may be answered not only by visiting an exhibition such as Ons Land, but also by doing your own research. In 2024 this search will be made more accessible and more common with the launch of a new online platform: Indisch Erfgoed Digitaal. There you can look up (family) history in combination with historical context.

The Talkshow

Under the guidance of moderator Feba Sukmana we talk with a few enthusiastic guests who are engaged with their own family history and with the afterlife of the colonial past. How do you begin such research? What do you do once you know a great deal about your family's past? How do you relate to your family's colonial past? How do you deal with it? Joining the table are: Gloria Lappya, August de Bats, Glenda Pattipeilohy, Rochelle van Maanen and Aca Siwabessy Stoffels.
