Earlier this month we swapped our workplaces in The Hague and Rotterdam for a day in the far north. In and around Assen we visited three heritage institutions, each connected in its own way to Moluccan heritage: the Westerbork Memorial Centre, the Drents Archief and the Drents Museum.

On Saturday 17 June 2023 the results of the archaeology project ‘Wyldemerck: searching together for barracks in the woods’ were presented at Museum Sophiahof. After a remarkable period of research with field inspections and excavations, participants, former residents and others interested in (project) Wyldemerck came together for a festive conclusion with music and dance.

On Saturday 14 May 2022 the kick-off meeting of Project Wyldemerck took place at Museum Sophiahof. More than six months have now passed. The project has made a name for itself within archaeological circles in the Netherlands and is increasingly carried by the former residents of the Wyldemerck camp.

The archaeology project ‘Wyldemerck, searching together for barracks in the woods’, in which former residents of the Moluccan camp actively participate, has won the Dutch Grote Archeologie Prijs.

After the success of ‘Njonja’, Dinah Marijanan presented her second book on 16 November. It is on sale in our museum shop for 17.95.
